When replacing your radiator with a chrome towel rail or towel radiator, measuring the pipe centre is essential for a proper fit.

What is a pipe centre?

The pipe centre is the width between the left and right central heating pipes, measured from centre to centre. This measurement differs between towel rails and radiators. For most chrome towel rails or towel radiators, the pipe centre is usually 40-50mm less than the overall width of the rail, depending on the manufacturer.

How to Measure?

Measure the distance from the center of one pipe to the center of the other where the pipes exit the floor or wall, before any bends or turns. This will give you the correct pipe centre measurement.

For example, if you have an 800mm wide chrome towel rail, the pipe centre could be around 750-760mm, depending on the manufacturer.
