Frequently Asked Questions
What is the usable internal width for hanging towels on a 700mm rail?
The two vertical side tubes occupy around 80mm of the total width, leaving 620mm of internal hanging space. That comfortably fits a full-size bath towel and a hand towel side by side without overlapping, which is why this width is so popular for family main bathrooms. If your wall is slightly tight for a 700mm, our 650mm range still provides a generous 570mm of internal space.
How much wall clearance does a 700mm rail need?
Allow a minimum of 800mm of flat, unobstructed wall. This accounts for the rail itself, the mounting bracket overhang on each side, and enough room to hang and remove towels without catching them on door frames or window reveals. If your alcove is wider, the 750mm option only needs around 850mm and adds another row of drying capacity.
Can this electric rail replace my standard bathroom radiator?
In a well-insulated modern bathroom, yes—particularly with a taller height such as 1400mm or above. The 1800mm model at ΔT50 outputs 3,500 BTU, which comfortably heats a typical 4–6m² bathroom as its sole heat source. For older properties with poor insulation, we recommend pairing the rail with a WiFi smart element so it runs on a schedule and maximises efficiency. A thermostatic element also prevents energy waste by cutting out once the room reaches temperature.
Does it matter which side the electrical element goes on?
No—the element fits either the left or right vertical collector tube to suit wherever your fused spur is positioned. However, the element must always be installed at the very bottom of the collector tube. Installing it at the top disables the built-in thermal cut-out protection, creating a serious fire and burn hazard.
Will I ever need to bleed or top up the fluid?
Never. The rail is factory-sealed with anti-rust thermal fluid and functions as a completely self-contained electrical appliance. There are no connections to your plumbing system, so bleeding, flushing, or inhibitor dosing are not required at any point.
Can I add towel rail pegs to a 700mm model?
