Small electric towel rails that punch well above their size

A warm, dry towel is one of those small luxuries that quietly changes how a room feels the moment you step into it. The catch? Not every bathroom has the wall space for a full-width rail. That's exactly what our small electric towel rails are for. These are slim, fast-heating rails from 300mm to 500mm wide, built to slot into cloakrooms, en-suites, and compact bathrooms without shouting for attention.

We've been selling towel rails from our Coventry warehouse (CV7 9NH) since 2012, and every rail on this page is held in UK stock. Order before the cut-off and our own fleet will have it with you the same or next day — no courier roulette, no refreshing a tracking number.

Why a small electric towel rail?

Full-size rails are lovely until you're standing in a cloakroom with a wall that's barely wider than the door. A 300mm to 500mm rail changes that maths completely. You get properly warm, dry towels in the one room guests actually use, without surrendering an inch of floor space.

Because these rails are electric, they're not tied to your central heating. That means towels stay toasty all year round — in a July heatwave or a February frost — and you don't need to fire up the whole boiler just to dry a hand towel. Fitting is simple too: no pipework, no re-plumbing, just a fused spur and a bit of wall.

What size do I need?

Think about the wall you're working with, not the room. A 300mm rail is the go-to for tight cloakrooms and shower rooms where a towel needs a home and nothing else will fit. Move up to 400mm and you'll comfortably handle a bath towel. A 500mm rail is the sweet spot for compact family bathrooms and larger en-suites — still discreet, but with enough bar space for a couple of towels to dry properly.

Measure the clear wall space first, allow a little breathing room either side, and you won't go far wrong.

How much does it cost to run?

Less than you'd guess. At the current 24.67p per kWh rate (from 1 April 2026), a 150W rail running four hours a day works out at roughly 15p a day — under £5 a month. For a permanently warm towel, that's a very easy bill to swallow.

Finishes

We keep these rails in four finishes: chrome, black, white, and anthracite. Chrome stays the classic choice for traditional bathrooms, while matte black and anthracite bring a sharper, more contemporary edge. White slips quietly into lighter schemes without competing for attention.

Why buy from Elegant Radiators?

We've been doing this from our Coventry warehouse since 2012, and it shows in the details. Every rail on this page is in UK stock, and our own delivery fleet covers the country same or next day — which means your rail arrives when we say it will, not when a third-party courier gets around to it. You're backed by a 5-year warranty on the rail, a 1-year warranty on the element, and 25-year warranties on our stainless steel and aluminium ranges. Trade customers get dedicated discounts too, so if you're fitting these for a living, give us a shout.

Small electric towel rail FAQs

What is the smallest electric towel rail?

Our smallest electric towel rail is 300mm wide. It's the one we recommend for cloakrooms and shower rooms where wall space is genuinely tight, and it still delivers a properly warm towel.

Will a small electric towel rail heat my bathroom?

Its main job is warming towels, not heating the room. On lower wattages it'll take the chill off a small space, but for genuine room heating you'd want a larger, higher-wattage rail or a separate heat source.

How much does a small electric towel rail cost to run?

A 150W rail on for four hours a day costs around 15p a day at current electricity rates — comfortably under £5 a month. It's one of the cheaper ways to keep towels permanently warm.

Do electric towel rails need filling?

No. Our electric towel rails come pre-filled, ready for assembly and installation.

Can I fit a small electric towel rail in an en-suite?

Absolutely — en-suites are exactly where these rails earn their keep. A 400mm or 500mm rail fits neatly beside a basin or on a spare wall, and because it's electric it works independently of your central heating.

What width do I need for a cloakroom?

Measure the clear wall you have, then look at 300mm or 400mm rails first. If you've got roughly half a metre of space, a 500mm rail will give you a touch more drying room without feeling cramped.

Ready to warm things up?

Pick your width, choose a finish, and order today. With UK stock in our Coventry warehouse and our own fleet on the road, your small electric towel rail will be on the wall before you know it.
