Does the Reina Maia Vertical need a plumber or an electrician?

An electrician only — no plumber required. The Maia Vertical is a dry electric radiator with no water or pipework. A qualified electrician connects it to a dedicated fused spur. In England and Wales, a new circuit is notifiable under Part P of Building Regulations.

Which size should I choose — 1000W, 1500W, or 2000W?

As a rough guide: 1000W (1600x362mm) suits rooms up to about 10m². 1500W (1600x453mm) works well in 10-16m² rooms. 2000W (1600x544mm) is suited to larger spaces up to around 20m². All three are 1600mm tall — the width increases with wattage.

Why is the Maia Vertical so tall?

At 1600mm, the Maia Vertical maximises output from a narrow wall footprint. Warm air rises along the full column height, circulating naturally. Ideal for hallways, landings, or narrow bedroom walls where width is limited.

What controls does the Maia Vertical have?

The Maia Vertical uses a Weekly Thermostatic Control Unit — a built-in programmable thermostat. Set target temperatures and on/off schedules for every day of the week.

Is aluminium better than steel for an electric radiator?

For dry electric radiators, aluminium heats up and cools down faster than steel due to its lower thermal mass. More responsive thermostat, less overshoot, less wasted energy. Also lighter — easier to mount a tall 1600mm radiator.

Can it run independently of the central heating?

Yes — entirely independently. No water, no boiler connection. Use it any time of year regardless of whether the heating is running.

How much does the Maia Vertical cost to run?

At 25p/kWh: 1000W = 25p/hr, 1500W = 37.5p/hr, 2000W = 50p/hr. At 4 hours per day the 1500W costs approximately £4.50 per month. The thermostat reduces actual consumption below maximum.
