Product Overview & Key Specs

The Reina Capo Flat is a mild steel flat ladder towel rail, available in five heights from 800mm to 1800mm and three widths (400, 500 and 600mm), in White. Straight 22mm horizontal tubes give good towel-drying space and a high heat output for a compact footprint, and the thick steel body holds its heat after the boiler switches off.

Why Mild Steel for a Towel Rail?

Three practical reasons a steel ladder rail suits a modern central heating system.
Robust buildHard-wearing ✔
Thick-wall 22mm steel tubes with a durable factory finish. A ladder rail takes knocks and keeps its looks in busy bathrooms and kitchens.
Holds its heatWarm towels ✔
Steel retains heat after the boiler switches off, so towels stay warm and the room temperature stays steady between cycles.
Ladder profileSpace-saving
12 to 27 vertical bars across three widths give plenty of hanging space and a generous surface area for the heat it delivers.

Calculated to EN 442. ΔT60 = high-temp boilers (80°C flow). ΔT50 = standard gas boiler (75/65°C). ΔT30 = heat pump (50/40°C). Figures are for the white finish.

Heat pump owners: use the ΔT30 column. Steel warms up more slowly than aluminium, so allow a little longer to reach temperature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Is the Reina Capo Flat compatible with a heat pump?

A. It is rated at Delta T30, so it will work on a heat pump system - use the Delta T30 column in our heat output table for accurate figures. Steel warms up more slowly than aluminium, so if your system runs at low flow temperatures year-round it will take a little longer to reach temperature.

Q.

What valves do I need for the Capo Flat?

A. The Capo Flat takes standard 1/2 inch BSP valves. We recommend thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) for individual room control. One lockshield valve and one TRV is the usual pairing for a towel rail.

Q.

What are the pipe centres on the Capo Flat?

A. Pipe centres are 45mm less than the rail width - 355mm on the 400mm wide, 455mm on the 500mm and 555mm on the 600mm. Wall to pipe centres is 70-85mm depending on how you set the brackets.

Q.

Which size Capo Flat do I need?

A. Use the room fit calculator on this page. Enter your room dimensions and heating system type - the calculator shows whether the rail will meet your heat loss. As a guide, allow around 100 BTU per cubic metre for a modern well-insulated UK room. Remember a towel rail is designed to dry towels as well as heat the room.

Q.

What finishes is the Capo Flat available in?

A. White, Anthracite, Black and Chrome, across all fifteen height and width combinations. Chrome is available as both a flat and a curved version.

Q.

Can the Capo Flat be used as an electric or dual fuel towel rail?

A. Yes for most sizes. The datasheet lists central heating, electric and dual fuel for every size except the two largest 1800 x 500mm and 1800 x 600mm, which are central heating only. Contact our team and we will confirm the correct element for your size.

Q.

What is the difference between the flat and curved Capo?

A. Flat rails have straight 22mm horizontal tubes running across the front. Curved rails have the same tube diameter but the tubes bow outwards, which gives slightly more space for towels. Both use the same brackets and fit the same pipe centres.

Q.

Why choose a mild steel towel rail?

A. Steel is robust, takes a hard-wearing finish and holds its heat after the boiler switches off, which keeps towels warm between cycles. A ladder profile gives a lot of heated surface in a small footprint.
