Reina Capo chrome towel rail - room setting
Central heating. Mild steel. Chrome ladder towel rail, straight or curved.

Product Overview & Key Specs

The Reina Capo is a mild steel ladder towel rail in polished chrome, available in five heights from 800mm to 1800mm and three widths (400, 500 and 600mm). Pick straight tubes for a clean flat face, or curved tubes for a little more room between the rails for towels. Both use 22mm horizontal tubes and the same brackets, and the thick steel body holds its heat after the boiler switches off.

Why Mild Steel for a Towel Rail?

Three practical reasons a steel ladder rail suits a modern central heating system.
Robust buildHard-wearing ✔
Thick-wall 22mm steel tubes with a durable finish. A ladder rail takes knocks and keeps its looks in busy bathrooms and kitchens.
Holds its heatWarm towels ✔
Steel retains heat after the boiler switches off, so towels stay warm and the room temperature stays steady between cycles.
Straight or curvedYour choice
Same rail, same brackets, same pipe centres - choose flat tubes for a clean face or curved tubes for extra towel space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

What is the difference between the straight and curved Capo?

A. Straight rails have flat 22mm horizontal tubes running across the front. Curved rails have the same 22mm tubes but they bow outwards, giving a little more space between the tubes for towels. Both use the same brackets and fit the same pipe centres for a given size.

Q.

Do the straight and curved versions have the same heat output?

A. Very nearly. The two are identical up to 1600mm high. On the 1800mm sizes the curved rail is slightly lower - the 1800 x 600mm straight delivers 2,330 BTU at Delta T50 against 1,646 BTU for the curved. Use the shape selector above the table to see both.

Q.

Is the Reina Capo compatible with a heat pump?

A. It is rated at Delta T30, so it will work on a heat pump system - use the Delta T30 column in our heat output table for accurate figures. Steel warms up more slowly than aluminium, so if your system runs at low flow temperatures year-round it will take a little longer to reach temperature.

Q.

What valves do I need for the Capo?

A. The Capo takes standard 1/2 inch BSP valves. We recommend thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs) for individual room control. One lockshield valve and one TRV is the usual pairing for a towel rail.
Technical team · Elegant Radiators
Q.

What are the pipe centres on the Capo?

A. Pipe centres are 45mm less than the rail width - 355mm on the 400mm wide, 455mm on the 500mm and 555mm on the 600mm. Wall to pipe centres is 70-85mm depending on how you set the brackets.

Q.

How do I look after a chrome towel rail?

A. Wipe chrome with a soft damp cloth and dry it off - never use abrasive pads or chemical cleaners, which scratch the plating. Keep the rail out of direct contact with wet towels for long periods if you want the finish to stay bright.
Technical team · Elegant Radiators
Q.

Can the Capo be used as an electric or dual fuel towel rail?

A. Yes for most sizes. The datasheets list central heating, electric and dual fuel for every size except the two largest 1800 x 500mm and 1800 x 600mm, which are central heating only. Contact our team and we will confirm the correct element for your size.

Q.

Why choose a mild steel towel rail?

A. Steel is robust, takes a hard-wearing finish and holds its heat after the boiler switches off, which keeps towels warm between cycles. A ladder profile gives a lot of heated surface in a small footprint.
