A. Hardwired only. A qualified electrician must connect it to a dedicated fused spur. In England and Wales, a new bathroom circuit falls under Part P of Building Regulations. No plumber required.

Why does Matt Black have a higher wattage?
A. The Matt Black Arnage uses a higher-output element (125W / 165W vs 105W / 145W for the other finishes). In practice the difference is small — both are more than sufficient for towel warming. Dimensions, projection, and installation are identical across all finishes.

How do the timer settings work?
A. The built-in timer has 2-hour, 4-hour, and 24-hour modes. Press to select your preferred duration — the rail switches off automatically when the period ends. Controls sit at the bottom right. For a fixed daily start time, an electrician can fit a separate compliant timer switch on the fused spur circuit.

Is the wiring completely hidden?
A. Yes. The wiring is concealed through the wall — no surface trunking or visible cable runs. The control unit and cable exit are at the bottom right of the rail, keeping the front face clean. Your electrician will core a hole through the wall for the cable during installation.

Which size Arnage do I need?
A. The 800mm (105–125W) suits smaller bathrooms up to around 6m² or as a supplementary towel warmer. The 1200mm (145–165W) suits bathrooms up to around 10m². Use our BTU calculator for a precise recommendation based on your room dimensions and insulation type.

Can it run in summer with the central heating off?
A. Yes — entirely independent of your boiler. Switch it on whenever you want warm towels, regardless of season. No minimum system pressure, no seasonal shutdown, no waiting for the heating to come on.

What is dry electric — how is it different from a pre-filled rail?
A. A pre-filled rail contains water and glycol — the element heats the liquid which heats the body. A dry electric rail like the Arnage has no water inside: the element heats the stainless body directly. Faster heat-up, zero corrosion risk, no limescale, and you never need to bleed it.
