The Booster Timer Fused Spur (CB-WCONT-BOOST) gives your electric towel rail a push-button boost of 1 to 5 hours, then switches off by itself. Five LEDs show the boost you chose and count down as time runs out. Designed for the Single Heat element. The ER-Touch element has a BOOST timer built in, so it does not need one. 13A fused spur with a double-pole switch, fitting a standard back box at least 25mm deep.

Booster Timer or Schedule?
Use the booster timer on a Single Heat element when you want warm towels on demand: press, and the rail heats for the hours you choose, then switches itself off. The ER-Touch thermostatic element has this BOOST timer built in, so it does not need one. For a daily or weekly schedule, choose the digital timer or the WiFi timer. An external timer needs a towel rail that restarts heating when the power returns: switch the rail on, switch its fused spur off for 10 to 15 seconds, then back on. If it carries on from where it left off, you are good to go.

How does the booster timer work?
A. Press the BOOST button once for 1 hour of heat, twice for 2 hours, up to five presses for 5 hours. The LEDs beside the time markers light up to show the selected boost, and a sixth press returns to zero (all LEDs off).

Which elements is the booster timer for?
A. It is designed for Single Heat elements, which have no timer of their own. The ER-Touch element already has a BOOST timer built in (1 to 5 hours), so it does not need a Booster timer.

How do I see how much boost time is left?
A. The LEDs go out one by one as the boost runs down. For a 2 hour boost, after 58 minutes the 2 hour LED flashes for two minutes and goes out, showing 1 hour remaining. After another 58 minutes the 1 hour LED flashes and goes out, showing the boost has finished.

Can I cancel or change the boost?
A. During the first 15 seconds you can change the boost by pressing the button again, or stop it by pressing repeatedly or holding the button until all LEDs are off. After 15 seconds a single press cancels the boost, and you then enter the time again.

Is it a programmable timer?
A. No. It gives a one-off boost of 1 to 5 hours and then switches off. If you want a daily or weekly schedule, choose the digital timer or the WiFi timer.

How do I check my towel rail will work with an external timer?
A. Turn the towel rail on. Switch its fused spur off, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then switch it back on. If the rail carries on heating from where it left off, it will work with an external timer.

What load can it switch?
A. 13A (3kW) resistive load. It also handles 700W incandescent or halogen lighting, 500W fluorescent, 80W CFL and 150W LED. It is not suitable for discharge lighting.

Do I need an electrician to fit it?
A. Yes. The manual recommends a qualified electrician fitting it to current wiring and building regulations. It replaces a fused connection unit in a back box at least 25mm deep. Fused spurs are ideally fitted outside the bathroom.
