Q.Can this towel rail be used as electric-only?
A. Yes — with the addition of a heating element, this rail converts to electric-only running. We pre-fill electric rails with a minimum 85% reverse-osmosis water and inhibitor mixture (ethylene glycol), leaving an air gap for expansion. The element installs at the bottom (left or right) — heat rises, so top-mounted elements won't work properly. View our electric-only version ↗
Q.Will this heat my bathroom on its own?
A. Realistically, no. At 519 BTU / 152W this is a compact rail designed to warm towels and add supplementary heat. For a typical 2m × 1.5m bathroom you'd need roughly 390+ BTU as a primary heat source. Pair it with your main bathroom heating, or look at our 800mm+ tall towel rails if you need full-room heating from a single rail.
Q.What are the wall-to-pipe and projection measurements?
A. The brackets are adjustable: wall-to-pipe centres sit between 75–95mm, and total projection from the wall is 90–110mm. That gives you flexibility if your pipes don't align perfectly with the rail inlets.
Q.Is the matt black finish rust-resistant?
A. Yes — the matt black powder coat is applied over high-quality steel and resists rust and corrosion in normal bathroom conditions. The rail carries a 5-year warranty.
Q.Does it come with fixings?
A. Yes — the rail ships with 4× adjustable matt black brackets, screws, rawl plugs and washers, plus a blanking plug and a bleed plug. Valves are sold separately so you can choose straight or angled to match your pipework.
