At just 200mm wide, these are the narrowest pre-filled electric towel rails we stock — designed for spaces where width is the constraint: the sliver of wall between a door frame and a shower enclosure, a compact cloakroom, or a utility room with a short run of tiled wall. Despite the slim profile, each rail runs up to 1800mm high, giving you serious towel-warming capacity in a very small footprint.

Every rail in this range is pre-filled — the fluid and heating element are factory-fitted and sealed. There is no plumbing connection whatsoever. Mount the brackets, hang the rail, and plug into a standard 13A socket or hardwire via a fused spur. A competent DIYer can have one working in under an hour.

No Plumbing Required — How These Connect

Pre-filled electric towel rails contain a sealed fluid system with a factory-fitted heating element. You mount, hang, and plug in — or connect to a fused spur for a permanent installation. No boiler connection, no valves, no draining the system. This makes them the go-to choice for:

  • Rooms with no existing pipework — extensions, loft conversions, outbuildings
  • Tenants who cannot modify a central heating system
  • Second bathrooms on a different zone from the boiler
  • Any room where running CH pipework would mean lifting floors or chasing walls

The element is rated IPX4, suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3. For installations directly above a bath or shower (zone 1), the non-thermostatic element variant carries IPX6.

Chrome or White — Which Finish?

Chrome reflects light and suits both contemporary and classic bathrooms. In a narrow cloakroom especially, it avoids the visual weight of a dark or solid finish. Chrome is straightforward to clean — water spots and finger marks wipe off easily with a soft cloth.

White allows the rail to blend into a white-tiled wall and visually disappear, which is useful in very tight spaces where you want the room to feel larger. Pair white powder-coat with white sanitaryware for a seamless look. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scuff the finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much wall space does a 200mm wide towel rail need?

The overall width is 200mm. The two wall brackets sit inset approximately 65mm from each end, so fixing centres are around 70mm apart. Allow at least 280–300mm of clear, flat wall width to give a comfortable margin around the fixings and the rail itself.

Can I add a timer or thermostat?

Yes. Plug-in programmable timers and inline thermostatic controllers work with any pre-filled electric rail — fit them between the socket and the rail's plug. For a hardwired installation, use a fused spur with a built-in timer (IP20 rated — must be sited outside the bathroom) or our WiFi fused spur timer for full app control and scheduling.

What does the 5-year warranty cover?

The 5-year manufacturer's warranty covers the towel rail body and finish against defects in materials and workmanship. Heating elements carry a separate 1-year warranty. Warranty is void if the element is run without fluid in the system or if the unit is modified. We are based in Coventry (CV7 9NH) and handle all warranty claims directly — no third parties.
