200mm Wide Electric Towel Rail FAQs
The overall width of the radiator is 200mm. The two wall brackets sit inset approximately 65mm from each end, meaning the fixing centres are around 70mm apart. We recommend allowing at least 280–300mm of clear, flat wall width to give you a comfortable margin for installation and hanging your towels.
While the overall outer width of the radiator is 200mm, the usable horizontal bar space between the vertical uprights is exactly 120mm. This ultra-slim internal gap is exactly what allows the rail to fit into the tightest of spaces where standard radiators simply cannot go.
Because of the narrow 120mm gap, you have a few easy options for drying larger towels. You can fold them lengthwise and thread them through the bars, or simply drape large bath sheets directly over the top of the rail. For the most practical solution, we highly recommend adding our Chrome Towel Rail Pegs. These easily attach to the horizontal bars, allowing you to hang thick towels, bathrobes, and clothes straight off the front of the radiator without having to squeeze them between the gaps.
The IP (Ingress Protection) rating depends entirely on the type of heating element you choose to install with your towel rail. Our standard (single heat) elements feature a high IPX6 rating, offering strong protection against water ingress. If you choose our thermostatic or WiFi-controlled elements, these models carry an IPX4 rating.
Yes. Plug-in programmable timers and inline thermostatic controllers work perfectly with any of our pre-filled electric rails. For a hardwired installation, you can wire the rail into a fused spur timer or use our WiFi elements for complete smartphone control and scheduling.
Mounting the brackets and hanging the physical radiator can be completed by a competent DIYer in under an hour. However, if you are hardwiring the unit into a fused spur, the final electrical connection must be carried out by a Part P qualified electrician to comply with UK building regulations.
The 5-year manufacturer's warranty covers the towel rail body and the exterior finish against any defects in materials and workmanship. The electrical heating elements carry a separate 1-year warranty. Please note that the warranty is void if the element is operated without fluid in the system or if the sealed unit is modified. We handle all warranty claims directly from our Coventry (CV7 9NH) base.
