The Reina Serpe is an S-shaped “snake” designer towel radiator made from square-section mild steel tube. Choose 270, 510 or 750mm high, all 500mm wide, in chrome or anthracite. It connects to a central heating system, is rated for heat pumps at ΔT30, and carries a 5-year Reina guarantee.

Is the Reina Serpe compatible with a heat pump?
A. Reina publish a Delta T30 output for every Serpe size and finish, so it can be used on a heat pump system - use the Delta T30 column in our heat output table for accurate figures. Size the radiator against that column rather than the gas boiler figures.

Can the Serpe be used as an electric or dual fuel towel rail?
A. No. The Serpe is a central heating radiator only and is not available as an electric or dual fuel model.

What valves do I need for the Serpe?
A. The Serpe has two G1/2 inch connections, one at each end of the S, at opposite corners of the radiator. Radiator valves are not supplied. You need a lockshield valve and a manual or thermostatic valve, so contact our team if you would like help choosing a pair that suits your pipework.

What are the connection centres and wall distances on the Serpe?
A. Connection centres (vertical x horizontal) are 240 x 364mm on the 270mm height, 480 x 364mm on the 510mm height and 720 x 364mm on the 750mm height. All sizes are 500mm wide, wall to pipe centres is 65 to 80mm and the wall distance is 80 to 95mm.

How much space does the Serpe need around it?
A. Reina's installation guide says not to mount it closer than 50mm below any overhanging surface such as a shelf, and no lower than 100mm from the floor. Hold the brackets against the wall and transfer the drill positions with a spirit level before you drill.
Q.
Which size Serpe do I need?
A. Use the room fit calculator on this page. Enter your room dimensions, heating system type and finish and it shows which Serpe size meets your heat loss. Check the heat output table too: the Serpe is a compact towel rail, so if it will be the only heat source in a larger room you may need a second radiator.

Is there a difference in heat output between chrome and anthracite?
A. Yes. Reina's datasheet rates anthracite higher than chrome at every size - for example 271W against 182W at Delta T50 on the 510mm height. A polished chrome surface gives off less radiant heat than a painted one, so check the figures for your chosen finish in our table.
Q.
How do I look after the finish and the system?
A. Clean the Serpe with a soft cloth only, as chemical cleaners can scratch or damage the finish. Reina recommend flushing the heating system before fitting, keeping system water between pH 5.5 and 8.5, and fitting a warning mark near the radiator if system water exceeds 50 degrees C. Maximum working temperature is 95 degrees C and maximum working pressure is 4 bar. The Serpe carries a 5-year Reina guarantee.
