The Reina Rance is a compact polished stainless steel dry electric towel rail with a distinctive 4-bar design. At 455×500mm and just 44W it is one of the lowest-cost electric rails in the Reina range — ideal for cloakrooms, en-suites, or as a secondary rail in a family bathroom. No water, no plumber, no connection to central heating. Connect to a dedicated fused spur and it runs independently year-round.

The Rance uses a dry heating element — no water inside the rail. Here is what that means in practice.

Does it need an electrician or can I plug it in?
A. Hardwired only. A qualified electrician must connect it to a dedicated fused spur. In England and Wales, a new bathroom electrical circuit is notifiable under Part P of Building Regulations. No plumber required.

Is 44W enough for a bathroom?
A. For towel warming in a room with existing heating, yes. The Rance is designed as a towel warmer rather than a primary heat source. At 44W across four bars it keeps towels warm and dry at a very low running cost. For a room with no other heat source, we recommend a higher-output rail.

What does IP24 mean — where can I install it?
A. IP24 provides protection against water splashed from any direction — equivalent water protection to IPX4. Suitable for Zone 2 (60cm or more from a bath or shower edge). Not suitable for Zone 0 or Zone 1. The fused spur must be outside the bathroom. Your electrician will confirm zone compliance.

Will it rust — is it genuine stainless steel?
A. Yes — the Rance is stainless steel, inherently corrosion-resistant in bathroom humidity. It will not rust or peel. Clean with a soft damp cloth; avoid abrasive pads and acidic cleaners which can dull the polished finish.

Can it run in summer with the central heating off?
A. Yes — entirely independent of your boiler. No water connection, no system pressure, no seasonal shutdown. Switch it on any day of the year for warm towels regardless of whether the heating is on.

What is dry electric — how is it different from a pre-filled rail?
A. A pre-filled rail contains water and glycol heated by an element. A dry electric rail like the Rance has no water inside — the element heats the stainless body directly. Faster heat-up, no internal limescale, no bleeding required.
