Reina Sesia Chrome Heated Towel Rail — flat horizontal bar detail closeup
Central heating, electric, or dual fuel — one striking chrome rail.

Product Overview & Key Specs

The Reina Sesia is a vertical chrome heated towel rail built around a bold offset ladder design with wide, flat horizontal bars. Where most ladder rails use round tubes, the Sesia's rectangular bars create a broader contact surface for towels and a contemporary profile that reads as a design statement rather than a utility fixture. The reversible mounting means you can install it left or right-handed to suit your plumbing position. Available in three heights, it fits bathrooms, ensuites, and cloakrooms of all sizes.

Three Fuel Options — Same Rail Body

Choose the configuration that matches your setup. Dimensions, finish, and design are identical across all three.
Central Heating C — Standard
Connects to your hot water CH system via G1/2" angled or straight valves. Ideal if bathroom pipework is already in place. SKUs: RND-SS508, RND-SS511, RND-SS515.
Electric E — No pipework
Sealed body fitted with a dry or pre-filled electric element. No plumber required — just a qualified electrician for the fused spur. Both rail ends are capped for a clean finish.
Dual Fuel D — Year-round
CH in winter, electric element in summer — warm towels 365 days a year without running the boiler. Requires a T-piece fitting at one valve position. Best of both worlds.
Electric and dual fuel variants require a compatible element, sold separately. Browse compatible elements ↗

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.

Can the Reina Sesia run on electric or dual fuel as well as central heating?

A. Yes. The Sesia is available in three fuel configurations: central heating (CH), electric-only, and dual fuel. The dual fuel version includes a T-piece fitting that allows the rail to run on your CH system in winter and switch to an electric element in summer — keeping towels warm without firing the boiler. The rail body and chrome finish are identical across all three options.

Q.

What pipe centres does the Reina Sesia require?

A. All three sizes have a fixed 100mm pipe centre distance — the gap between the inlet and outlet at the bottom of the rail, measured centre to centre. Your plumber must ensure the supply and return pipes are exactly 100mm apart. The connection axis (distance from wall mounting point to pipe connection) is 804mm for the 860mm rail, 1124mm for the 1180mm rail, and 1444mm for the 1500mm rail.

Q.

What valves do I need?

A. Standard 15mm angled radiator valves with a G1/2" male thread. Angled valves are most common where pipes emerge from the wall; straight valves suit floor-running pipework. Valves are not included — they must be purchased and fitted separately by a plumber. Any standard chrome G1/2" valve set is compatible with the Sesia.

Q.

Will the polished chrome finish tarnish over time?

A. In normal bathroom conditions chrome will remain bright for many years. Hard water can leave limescale spots — wipe regularly with a soft damp cloth and dry the surface promptly. Avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemical cleaners, which scratch the mirror finish. The 5-year manufacturer's guarantee covers finish defects under normal use.

Q.

Can I install the Sesia with the connections on either side?

A. Yes. The Sesia's offset ladder design is symmetrical — simply rotate the rail before mounting to position the G1/2" connections on the left or right, whichever suits your pipework. No special tools or extra parts are needed for a reversible installation.

Q.

Which size should I choose for my bathroom?

A. As a starting guide: the 860mm (364W at ΔT50°C) suits small ensuites and cloakrooms up to about 3–4 m²; the 1180mm (477W) covers a standard ensuite or family bathroom of 4–7 m²; the 1500mm (625W) suits larger bathrooms or rooms with poor insulation. On a heat pump, use the ΔT30°C outputs: 188W, 247W, and 323W respectively. Use our BTU calculator for a precise result based on your room.

Q.

Do I need a corrosion inhibitor in my central heating system?

A. Yes — always use a corrosion inhibitor in any system containing mild steel components. The Sesia is made from mild steel, which is susceptible to internal corrosion without adequate inhibitor protection. Check and top up inhibitor concentration annually. This is standard practice for any CH system and is a condition of the 5-year warranty.

Q.

What heat output figures should I use — ΔT50°C or ΔT70°C?

A. Use ΔT50°C for modern condensing boiler systems — this is the current EN 442 test standard and what most UK plumbers work to. ΔT70°C figures (sometimes still quoted by older sources) are from a superseded test standard and will overstate the output for a typical modern system. For underfloor heating or heat pump systems, use ΔT30°C. The figures on this page are given at both ΔT50°C and ΔT30°C.
