Aluminium delivers excellent heat output at lower flow temperatures, making the Carpena well suited to air-source and ground-source heat-pump systems. It provides comfortable warmth at the 40–50°C flow temperatures used by many modern heat-pump installations.

Aluminium heats up quickly, so the bathroom and towels become warm soon after the heating comes on. It responds rapidly to thermostats, timers and smart heating controls, reducing wasted energy between cycles.
Corrosion resistantBuilt to last
Aluminium naturally forms a protective oxide layer, helping the Carpena withstand the warm, humid conditions found in bathrooms. For optimum service life, install it in a clean, correctly treated central-heating system with a suitable inhibitor.
Central-heating systems containing aluminium should be flushed and dosed with an inhibitor compatible with aluminium — such as Fernox F1 or Sentinel X100. Check manufacturer guidance for correct system treatment and ongoing maintenance.

Calculated to EN 442. ΔT60 = high-temp boilers (80°C flow). ΔT50 = standard gas boiler (75/65°C). ΔT30 = heat pump (50/40°C). All at 500mm width.

Is the Carpena compatible with a heat pump?
A. Yes. Aluminium's large surface area delivers good heat output at the lower flow temperatures (40–50°C) that ASHPs and GSHPs run at. Check the ΔT30 column in our output table for accurate figures.

What valves do I need?
A. The Carpena has bottom connections with 50mm pipe centres. Standard angled or corner valves will not span this distance directly — you need H-block manifold valves or close-coupled fittings. Contact our team to confirm the right valve for your pipework.

What is the pipe centre distance?
A. 50mm, fixed across all three heights (710mm, 1190mm, and 1510mm). This is closer than most towel rails — confirm valve compatibility before ordering.

Which height do I need?
A. Use the room fit calculator above. For a bathroom up to ~6m³, the 710mm (1,041 BTU) is typically sufficient. For bathrooms up to ~10m³, choose the 1190mm (1,681 BTU). For larger or poorly insulated bathrooms, the 1510mm (2,108 BTU) provides better headroom.

A. Aluminium heats and cools 5–10× faster than steel. Towels warm up quickly after the heating comes on and the radiator cools down fast when you're done — reducing wasted heat. It responds well to TRV and thermostat control.

Can I replace my existing towel rail with the Carpena?
A. If your existing rail also has 50mm pipe centres, yes — it's a direct replacement. If your current rail has wider pipe centres, your plumber will need to adjust or re-route the pipework. Our team can advise.
