We are very often asked, “What is the difference between the elements we stock?”
We stock many different models of Single heat or Thermostatic Elements in our warehouse in Coventry.
Hopefully, this guide will help you to understand the differences, the benefits and the various styles of elements to help you find the right one to fit your needs.
A Single Heat Element.
Single heat elements have no controller built in. They will be on or off all the time.
You will not be able to change the temperature or turn the heating up or down unless you use a wall controller/switch. Our Single heat elements can be used with wall timers. There is 1.45mt straight cable flex attached and there is no plug wired to it. It must be wired into a fused spur with a switch so it can be turned on or off.
A Thermostatic Heating Element
These elements have a built-in temperature controller and will regulate the temperature of the towel rail. Thermostatic elements will sense the internal temperature only, not the room temperature.
Our models come with various ways of regulating the temperature. Some models like the Terma MOA have a built-in 2-hour drying mode timer whilst our newer models like the KTX4 have the ability to control your elements functions from an App on your phone. GT Thermostatic Towel Radiator Element
The GT model is Made by Cini in Poland (EU) and it is one of our most popular elements. It can be used for electric only towel rails or for dual fuel setups.
There is a single control dial for the temperature. Heating ranges from minimum to 65°C. The minimum setting is used for frost protection and we recommend our customer to turn it down to Min heat setting rather than turning off from the fuse spur switch.
The controller is separated by an led red light indicator and below the led indicator there is a rotating dial to adjust the facing direction of the element, which is very helpful.
The GT model comes with a special wrench to tighten the element into the towel rail.
IP rating of this element is IP65
Terma MEG Towel Rad Element
The MEG model is made by Terma in Poland (EU). There are 3 buttons to control this element. On/off button and the + & - button to adjust the temperature.
It is available in Chrome, White and Black and you can purchase a Cable Cover as an optional extra.
5 Led indicator lights will display the setting. When the element is heating from cold you will see that the led indicator is blinking and when the set temperature is reached the led lights will become solid.
Terma MOA Towel Rad Element
The MOA model is made by Terma in Poland (EU). There are 4 buttons on this model and they are on/off button, + & - buttons and 2 hours drying mode timer button.
5 Led indicator lights work just like in the MEG model.
How to use 2 hours drying mode timer on Terma MOA Element?
If the timer button is pressed when the element is in off mode, the element will be turned on for 2 hours. After the end of 2 hours, the element will turn itself off. The MOA model is popular in Dual Fuel Towel Rail Radiators, just because of the 2 hours handy timer. Press the timer button, adjust the temperature and your towel rail will be heated by the time you finish your shower.
Also, you can use this drying mode timer as a booster for the 2 hours. To be able to use it as a booster, you need to turn the element on, set your desired temperature, press the timer button and set your boosting time temperature. The Moa element will go back to the original heat setting after 2 hours.
Terma KTX 4
The KTX4 is the most up to date model of an element we stock. It has a remote-control function which is via Bluetooth® wireless technology. Any smartphone or tablet with the installed TERMA Blue control application can be used as an external programmer for the heater. Thanks to the control application, the user has a great opportunity to create schedules for the KTX4 Blue heater. TERMA Blue is available for free in the Google Play Store (Android 4.4 - 6.0) and AppStore (IOS 9-10). It has an Advanced Programmable Timer feature and an LCD Display which shows the time (clock) and Temperature. A 2 Hour Drying Timer Function Built-in with a Multi-step Temperature Setting in a Range of 30°C - 60°C. For those cold winter nights, it has an Automatic ANTIFREEZE function to prevent liquid from freezing when the temperature falls below 5-7°C. For your security, it also has a double Protection against Overheating and Fire.
Dual Fuel Kits
If you live somewhere hot or maybe you just want the option of warming your towel rail, without turning on your central heating during the summer. You can install a dual fuel kit to your towel rail.
These kits give you the option of having the towel rail, connected to the central heating and turned on in the cold months and in the summer, you can turn the valves off and just have the element connected, so you still get nice warm, dry towels.
